are located near the Jackson street entrance. The opening reception is at
noon.
There's a three-hour block of 1 hour workshops scheduled. There are Four
Workshops total:
-Participatory Economics
-Envisioning Alternative Currencies
-Co-operatives: Starting and Organizing
-Open Source Software : Revolution in IT and Economics
The goal of the S.E. Summit is to sponsor thought and creativity towards
revolutionary/radical economic activities. There will be lots of "feedback
forms"--brainstorming questionaires--in which attendees will be encouraged
to generate ideas, however ludicrous. The results of the workshops and
overall summit will be used as content for a web page, so everyone's input
and participation is required.
In other words, this isn't something you'll just sit back and watch. We've
scheduled plenty of time for people to simply hang around and talk about
things, so please do and write down everything you possibly can!

"Women of Juarez" screening & discussion
6pm, AZONE, 2129 N millwakee Ave
Q&A with Rosario Acosta from
.Neustras Hija de Regresoa Casa.
Jason Wallach . Mexico Solidarity Network.
Since 1993 around 300 young women have been abducted, raped and murdered in
the Mexican border city of Juarez. Over 400 more women are missing. Despite
the number of victims and the audacity of the killers, authorities have failed
to stop the killings or jail the murderers. A culture of violence against women
reigns in Juarez.
Señorita Extraviada is a 70-minute film that documents the women of Juarez
and their struggle for justice.
The Mexico Soldiarity Network supports the cries for justice in Juarez. In an
effort to contribute to public education and demand justice in this overlooked
human rights tragedy, the Mexico Solidarity Network is collaborating with Women
Make Movies and women's organizations in Juarez to screen "Señorita
Extraviada" at universities, churches, and community groups across the
US.
The film is a disturbing portrait of Ciudad Juarez, NAFTA.s .City of the Future"
and home to 500 enormous assembly plants, called .maquiladoras.. In these plants,
Mexican workers--mostly women-- toil away 12-hour shifts in well-kept, US-owned
factories for $4-8 a day. After shift, workers return to shantytowns of sewage,
danger and squalor. Families with three full time wage earners can.t afford
decent housing. Corporations ship out the goods and reap enormous profits.
Señorita Extraviada gives voice to the victims' families and local activists
struggling against corrupt police, and questions an economic system that devalues
women.s work and women.s lives.
Rosario Acosta is co-founder of Nuestras Hijas de Regreso a Casa. The organization
was founded in 1998 by family members of murdered women in Juarez and Chihuahua
to end the silence, pressure authorities and demand justice in the murder cases.
Her work has helped the once silent cases gain an international audience. Nuestras
Hijas also helps victims' family members find psychological and financial assistance
to ease the burden of loss. Recently, Rosario returned from testifying in front
of the Interamerican Court on Human Rights in Washington, DC. She lives in Chihuahua,
Chihuahua, Mexico.
The TABD's 8th Annual CEO Conference will be held in Chicago

the EU and the US senior government officials from the U.S. Departments of Commerce,
State, the US Trade Representative, the European Commission and the EU Presidency.
